I use a confidential, HIPAA compliant electronic medical records software called Simple Practice.
A link to my intake paperwork will be emailed to you prior to our first session. You can upload your credit/debit/HSA card here through Stripe, a secure payment platform where even I can’t see your full credit card number, only the last our digits.
You will receive a link to our virtual appointments via your email address or your mobile phone number. You can personalize your own appointment reminders through email or text.
-
While most of my work is done online, I do offer some in-person appointments at my shared office in South Portland, Maine, depending upon my schedule and office availability.

A free 15-20 minute virtual consultation is really helpful for determining compatibility on things like your needs, my skills, and our schedules.
You get to see my face, hear my voice, tell me what you’re struggling with, and what you’re hoping to accomplish.
I get to tell you more about my professional background and experience and answer any of your questions.
If we are not a match, I am happy to help you find someone who is.
***PLEASE NOTE that I never take offense when a prospective client decides to work with someone else. Your comfort level is CRUCIAL for effective therapy
If we decide that we are a good match, we then proceed to scheduling.
I will then email you intake paperwork to complete through my confidential, HIPAA compliant Electronic Medical Records software

You can expect this appointment to last anywhere between 60-90 minutes.
During this time I will be asking a LOT of questions in order to gain a thorough understanding of you, your life, your history, any mental health symptoms, and your goals.
-
Length of therapy varies from person to person depending on a variety of factors including symptom reduction/elimination and successful attainment of goals.
From time to time we will have a conversation how therapy is going for you, what is working, what else could be helpful.
If you symptoms have abated and/or goals achieved, we will then discuss reducing frequency and/or ending treatment. This is a decision that is best made together, not by me alone.
A well-planned and thoughtful closure to therapy is ideal where we can review our work together, discuss progress, and celebrate your accomplishments. This process can be a really powerful experience, especially for people who have had painful and abrupt losses in their lives.

Oof this is a tough one. Though I care deeply for all of my clients and would love to form friendships, psychotherapy is a very unique relationship with clear ethical guidelines and rules established by our professional organizations and state licensing bodies. These rules are established for the benefit of therapy clients, and I take them very seriously. Please do not be offended. As fond as I become of everyone I work with, I am unable to have coffee dates and establish social media connections.
